Happy New Year to all the followers and readers of Musingsofascribe.com!
May the good Lord Jesus Christ bless you and your families, protect you and cause His countenance to shine upon you all.
As we begin this year, here are some thoughts that will be of great benefit to us all:
- Be slow to speak, slow to anger and quick to listen
19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
James 1 v 19
Let’s not allow our emotions to drive us into making hasty promises we cannot keep. For we will be judged by every word we speak :
4 When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.
5 Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that, thou shouldest vow and not pay.
6 Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands?
Ecclesiastes 5 v 4-6
- Let your light shine before all men
Oftentimes we hesitate to do what we want to do or live our best lives all because of what people will say. Human beings will never be satisfied with what we do so it’s best to please God than follow man. Whatever God has called you to do, do it to your best ability for it is He that will reward you not man.
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5 v 14 and 16
It’s okay not to flow like the world does, okay to stand out from the crowd and go against the tide. We have seen in scripture that God is rarely with the crowd but a selected few. His word says many are called but few are chosen (Matthew 22 v 14). Its best to be amongst the chosen few.
- Let’s persevere on this walk of faith and work out our salvation daily
Jesus Christ will come again. It doesn’t matter how long we have been waiting for Him, He will surely come. Let’s not give up on Him least He comes and finds us faithless.
35 Cast not away, therefore, your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition, but of them, that believe to the saving of the soul.
Hebrews 10 v 35 – 39
Thanks for all your support in 2018 and may the peace of God be with you all.
