16 Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will notwalk therein. Jeremiah 6 v 16
There’s a lot going on in the world that makes me wonder where we went wrong as a body of believers. When you are in darkness and are seeing things from a myopic lens, everything seems to appear grander and more beautiful than it truly is. How do we know the truth of what we are being told if we don’t know its history? Why as a race do we copy blindly and follow the status quo even though deep down we know it doesn’t make sense? Without the bigger picture we are easily deceived and tossed about by every wind of doctrine. Ignorance is certainly not bliss!
The Christianity most of us are acquainted with is vastly different from what the early church practiced. We’ve all been indoctrinated into accepting things as they are in our churches all in the name of tradition, how do we know what the truth is? How do we know if what we have been practicing is truly what Christ Jesus and the early church in the book of Acts left us?
The Most High God through His prophet Jeremiah asked us to seek the ancient path in order to find rest for our souls however we have refused. We have instead been lured by the devil’s pipe which has been playing a harmonious yet enticing melody of prosperity gospel laced with heresy and human philosophy.
Eve fell for the same lies in Genesis 3 and instead of standing firm on the word of God, we choose the lies and seduction of the devil. It is sad and soul wrenching to know that we have all been deceived and that everything we have believed to be the truth is a big lie from the pit of hell. After all, the ruler of this world is the devil and its his mission to cause all of humanity to burn in hell with him.
The sad truth is that it doesn’t matter that we were deceived because so long as we are not obeying the commands of Yahweh which are His Words, we can’t be called His disciples…
31¶Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 8 v 31-32
What is this truth that sets one free and how does one find it? Where does one go to seek it out?
Firstly, we must grasp the fact that:
- Mankind is depraved and as such is separated from its maker
Romans 3 v 23
- The Love God has for mankind, compelled Him to send His only son to reconcile us back to Him
1 John 4 v 10
- The truth is that Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven
John 14 v 6
- The way we show love to God is by doing His bidding
15¶If ye love me, keep my commandments.
John 14 v 15
It’s been observed across the decades that as we near the end of this present world, the long standing firm foundations built by the apostles and the early church is being watered down. We no longer bear fruits worthy of repentance as people claiming to be redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ. Following Christ is taken so lightly that we go into the house of God to descerete it with traditions of men and our indecent adornments. Some examples are:
Women, modesty and heacovering
Women are admonished to cover their heads while praying but in Today’s world of enlightenment, we feel that is old fashioned and does not apply to our culture.
1 Corinthians 11 v 5
Women have been told to dress modestly however in Today’s world, a woman feels no shame going to church half naked all in the name of fashion. Pastors compliment such indecency by calling it sexy. What correlation does a sanctified holy bride of Christ have to do with the word sexy?
The unrepented souls sitted in the pews
Those who fall in this category are deceived souls who once upon a time said the sinners prayer but haven’t allowed themselves to be transformed by the word of God. They carry on as though they haven’t had an encounter with Christ and will act up at any given opportunity because they are not yet dead to their flesh.
Can we truly say like Apostle Paul that
Galatians 2 v 20
We have some people identifying as christian because of their parents beliefs or based on the fact that they regularly attend church on a Sunday and help the poor. Unfortunately being a Christian is none of these things but is the acknowledgement of Christ Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour, forsaking your past way of life and turning whole heartedly and in deeds to the Word of God as prescribed in the Holy Bible. Our God is the same year, today and forever according to Hebrews 13 v 8
so why do we perceive that He has changed in these end times?
Dear valued reader, please let’s understand that being a believer in Christ is not only about our hearts or what we confess but also what we portray on the outward. For if what comes out of a man that defiles him, then we must be careful about our hearts and the things we allow into it.
Matthew 15 v 11
Bible tells us the people of God perish because of lack of knowledge. If this wasn’t so, then why do we as Bible believing Christians indulge in practices greatly detested by the Almighty Yahweh. We His followers are to depart from what He calls sin yet we have redefined the word of God to suit our lustful desires and take offence whenever we are being corrected.
A few sugar-coated sins widely accepted by today’s church are:
- Fornicatation —-> now known as dating
- Adultery – – – -> now known as cheating
- Lies – – – – > now seen as being smart and ingenious. We now accept “white lies”
- Drunkenness – – – – >now seen as having a good time. Afterall, Paul told Timothy to take wine for his stomach. We have also been told to drink but not get drunk
- Homosexuality – – – – > Love knows no gender
To be a lover of Christ means to be a doer of His words. If it’s all about this then why are we finding it so hard to practice what the word of God says? Why do we accommodate those things we know he detests? Does it mean we don’t really love Christ but have been paying lip service all these while?
Isaiah 29 v 13
Is it because we feel the Words of God are outdated and that His Words are no longer relevant in our debaucherous society? Let us not be deceived! The way of Yahweh has not changed and to be accepted by him, we must conform to Him.
Let’s do all we can to align ourselves to His word and way. Time is indeed short and unless the Lord intervenes, many of us will be rejected by Him. We pray that God will count us worthy to be His in the final day.
