What will your report be?

10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

2 Corinthians 5:10 (KJV)

Ever considered what your report will be before the creator of all creations and the judge of all judges? Ever pondered on what your response and excuses will be for not obeying the commands of the Supreme God and not fulfilling the purpose for which you were fashioned for ?

Many think we are the captains of our lives and have no need to answer to anyone in this world. It may be true for unbelievers and even for believers as we have all been given our free will to do with our lives as we wish however, once the breath of life given to us by Almighty God runs out, we would need to give an account to Him for what we did with the breath of life and talents He gave us. I am growing to understand that with God, nothing must be wasted and that our God can be likened to a businessman who wants a return for His investments.

14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several abilities; and straightway took his journey.

16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.

17 And likewise, he that had received two, he also gained other two.

18 But he that had received one went and dug in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.

19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.

20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Matthew 25 v 14-30 KJV

Eternity is inconceivable by the human mind yet we can never escape it as we all have an appointment with it. As a child, I often used to be in deep thoughts about what the world was like before I was born and how we would all be judged when we died. I used to wonder “Will God start the judgement by alphabetical order starting from our surnames or first names?” or “would He judge us based on our dates of births etc…? ”

You see my finite mind could not comprehend the greatness of Yehowah and failed to comprehend that His ways are not the ways of man. My brain used to hurt the more I thought of these things as I had no answers to the questions my soul was desperately seeking. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to stand before the Lord Jesus Christ, the I AM that I AM and explain why you lived your life the way you did? We all have justifying reasons for the things we do but will they be accepted by the Lord who looks beyond the surface and searches the hearts and motives of man? We may even succeed in deceiving those around us and ourselves that we are in right standing with God but we can never deceive the Almighty Himself!

Dear readers, the scariest thing in all of eternity is to hear the Lord Jesus Christ say to you “I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity”. Matthew 7 v 23 KJV

Although eternity may seem far away from us now, let’s begin to invest in it the same way we invest in our homes and for retirements hoping that one day all the renovations and money ploughed into it will yield a profitable interest and return for us.

Now is the time to do a self-assessment and ask ourselves the questions we fail to ask on a regular basis:

  1. I claim to know Jesus Christ but does He know me?
  2. Does my current lifestyle prove that I have been born again?
  3. If so, what has changed in me since I gave my life to Christ?
  4. Is the person I am behind closed doors the person others see in public?
  5. Does my life exude the fragrance of Christ Jesus and in turn attract others to Him?
  6. If I was to die this instance, do I have the assurance that Heaven is my home?
  7. If the answer is no, then what do I need to do to guarantee my access to Heaven?

Let’s all use this post as a wake-up call to amend our ways so that we too can escape the wrath of God. Let’s work on our salvation with fear and trembling for we know not how the Lord perceives us.

Amen
