Lost Humanity

I know of a woman who recently met a young lady who told her she was a humanist and believed in created beings rather than the creator. Their conversation reminded me of what Apostle Paul wrote to the books of Romans and Corinthians in the Bible…

“And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.” Romans 1 v 23 KJV

and

‘In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”

2 Corinthians 4 v 4 KJV

The young lady said she didn’t know why she needed to give her life to Jesus Christ and that she believed Jesus Himself would want her to do good to others and be happy instead of giving her life to Him.

Friends, the current state of the world is saddening! Many are blind to the truth and are walking down the path leading them to damnation. We have been deceived by the falsehood of society and have been made to believe that we don’t need God in the twenty-first century. We’ve been made to believe we evolved from apes and can live our lives anyhow because there’s no judgement after death. The name of Christ Jesus is now a curse word to many who prefer sickly sugarcoated lies that lead to death and destruction rather than the undiluted and soul-saving message of Christ. Many of our youths are dying at the hands of their contemporaries, people are turning against their neighbours all in the name of religion and many are prostituting themselves on social media just for attention. Meanwhile, the solution to all the world’s problems can be found in the name that has become an offence to the masses. This name has been rejected with its power to give life and peace! The name is Jesus Christ and only a few are willing to hear about His saving grace.

“As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumbling-stone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.”
Romans 9 v 33 KJV

The extent to which mankind has strayed away from God is pitiful and deeply distressing. Is it because we love sin more than our souls and where we would spend our eternity? After trying to explain to her about the pending judgment of the world and how the choices we make today affects our eternity, the young lady appeared nonchalant about the final resting place of her soul once she eventually leaves the land of the living.

We who have been graced with the truth and have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and not just Saviour must constantly ask the Lord to show and teach us how we can effectively reach this lost generation and win souls for His Kingdom.

Jesus Christ commissioned us to go out and make disciples by preaching the message: Repent, for the kingdom of Heaven is at hand (Matthew 4 verse 17). How many souls have you and I won for the Lord since we came to believe? I ask this to my shame because I know if the Lord was to weigh me in His scales I would be found wanting. Beloved, is this the same for you?

If so it’s not too late for us to go out there and become fishers of men. The Bible says he who wins souls is a wise person. How about us challenging ourselves to endeavour to speak to at least one person a day about our Lord Jesus Christ? This is the heart of the Master and Father that none should perish but have everlasting life through Jesus Christ. Let’s consider those perishing daily either because the gospel was not preached to them or simply because their hearts have been hardened by the god of this world.

The Bible makes it clear that mankind will be judged after death:

27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Hebrews 9 v 27 KJV

The judgement of God is real and cannot be escaped. One way or the other we will all have to face it. We deceive ourselves if we bury our heads in the sand by ignoring the signs around us. The love of many has grown cold, there are constant rumours of war around us, new incurable diseases being detected, many being deceived by another gospel, natural disasters etc… This list is not exhaustive but I hope it awakens us to the fact that we are in perilous times.

Many Christians are desiring for the rapture to take place but we seem to forget that unless our houses are set in order, we will end up gnashing our teeth with the punishment meted us being more severe than those who were ignorant of the gospel. For us who know the truth of what Christ requires of us but fail to do them, we will be deemed as those who willfully rejected the gospel. For we knew the truth but chose to trample upon the grace given us by ignoring the promptings of the Spirit of God and the word of God. For he who knows something to be wrong and does it, that thing becomes a sin to him. We who profess to love Christ Jesus with our mouths but ignore his commands are merely deceiving ourselves.

The below extract from the book of Amos in the old testament makes us understand that the judgment of God is not to be taken lightly.

18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the Lord! to what end is it for you? the day of the Lord is darkness, and not light.

19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.

Amos 5 v 18-19 KJV

Apostle Paul in the new testament also makes it clear that…

“It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”

Hebrews 10 v 31 KJV

On that great and terrible day where will, you and I be? Many of us have failed to truthfully reflect on our lives and what the judgement of the Lord would look like for us. The main reason is that we’ve been blinded by this world and the things of this world which are fading away. I would urge us all to focus more on eternal things by asking ourselves – am I fulfilling the purpose to which I was born for? what is my purpose? where would my soul go when I die? etc…. On the rare occasions when we do think of life after death, we erroneously judge ourselves according to our own standards and self-righteousness but not the standard of the Lord who will be judging us. We forget He is perfect and desires us to also be perfect!

For those of us blessed enough to have found the truth, our desire should be to strive to enter into the narrow gate which leads to life and our prayer should be ‘God please equip me with all I need to make your kingdom and win souls for your kingdom’.

13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Matthew 7 v 13 – 14 KJV

Many are on the highway to hell but are too blind and proud to see the danger signs all around them. Each one is living for the moment and for themselves not considering there is an eternity and that the actions and decisions made here on earth determine our destination.

Friends, my hope is that today’s post would awaken us from slumber and cause us to get right with God and ask Him to give us a heart for those around us in order to flee the pending judgement that awaits us once our souls depart this earth.

May God anoint us to evangelize and win souls for Heaven.

1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.
Isaiah 61 v 1-3 KJV

Prayer:

O Lord help me find rest in your heavenly Kingdom. Give me the burden of a soul winner, your heart and the boldness to proclaim your name without fear.

In Christ Jesus name

Amen
